National Wear Red Day?
It’s hard to believe that heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined. I feel like we are mostly made aware of diseases like breast cancer, because they are so highly publicized. Pink, to me, represents breast cancer awareness, and that is so amazing because it is a visual reminder that breast cancer is real and could affect you or a loved one. What about red, though?
That is unbelievable. The red dress is symbolic of the amount deaths that occur among women from heart disease. But what exactly is heart disease?
Heart disease is a broad term used to describe a range of diseases that affect your heart. The various diseases that fall under the umbrella of heart disease include diseases of your blood vessels, such as coronary artery disease; heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias); heart infections; and heart defects you’re born with (congenital heart defects).
