Animal abuse: Do you REALLY know what goes on?
I would like to bring light to a very dark subject — A subject that people often say they are familiar with…but are they really?
“I can’t watch this… it’s too sad.” Well, maybe you SHOULD watch it. By closing your eyes, you’re running away from the truth. This is reality. This is what happens to these innocent animals.
PUPPY MILLS: Puppy mills operate for profit with little concern about the health and treatment of the dogs in their care. The female breeding dogs suffer most, forced to live their lives in small cages and reproduce until they can no longer handle pregnancy or die. Many times when a female breeding dog is no longer able to reproduce, she is brutally killed or abandoned. (via SPCA)
When animals are born into an abusive environment or one where they have no human interaction, how do you expect them to properly interact with a human when they are finally bought/adopted? As a result, feral dogs may be violent, and they are immediately stereotyped as being “bad” dogs. This, in turn, becomes a vicious cycle. Now, in Miami, for example, it is illegal to own a Pitbull. Urgent Dogs of Miami have Pitbulls that come into their rescue, but who wants to go all the way to Miami to get a dog if they have their own shelters in their area? So what happens to those dogs?
SPAYING AND NEUTERING: Why is this so important? Well, at a time when most people cannot afford to maintain the payments on their home, they are giving up their pets to save up. This alone has greatly increased the number of animals that are in need of a home. Spaying and neutering your pets will keep them from reproducing — wherever they may end up. READ MORE

A woman wrote something on my Facebook, and she put things into perspective. There is so much one can do to help! If you can’t adopt, or can’t donate, just help SPREAD THE WORD!
Please spread the word about the importance of adopting and also SPAYING AND NEUTERING!!! There are numerous petitions to sign on various animal abuse so that laws can change and people actually serve jail time for their heinous acts. Also, the puppies that people buy from puppy stores come from horrific puppy mills where dogs are kept in cages their entire life having no human interaction and just used to breed- over and over and over agian. There is research and undercover videos all over internet. It’s super important to inform people not to buy dogs, but rather go and adopt at the various pounds, rescue groups, and also petfinder.org. Also, another wonderful thing to do is to foster. There are a countless number of local rescue groups all over the country that need people to foster the dogs that they save. They provide the food, the crate, and anything else that you may need. You just keep them until they are adopted out.
