Is it just me or does rap beef always seem to arise right around the same time a rapper drops an album? Common released his latest album, “The Dreamer/The Believer”, and with it came his beef with one of Hip Hop’s big names, Drake.

In his single, “Sweet,” Common talks about “a cat who is soft and sweet” and Drake felt the track was subliminally about him. He expressed his feelings about it saying, “If individuals have something to say about Drake, say it to his face instead of making subliminal rap records.” Common addressed the beef stating that the track was not about Drake and if Drake felt he fell in the “soft and sweet” category so be it.

Regardless of why the beef arose, whether it is strategical promotion for the album or if it’s legitimate beef, the album is a testimony to real Hip Hop.

Common says “The Dreamer/The Believer” is positive, good spirited, good energy, REAL Hip Hop. The album features John Legend, Nas, and an original poem by one of my favorite poets Maya Angelo.

The lead single “Ghetto Dreams” featuring Nas, brought great buzz to the album and is featured on the Madden NFL 12 soundtrack. I am a big Common fan and was very excited to listen to his latest project. “The Dreamer/The Believer” is Hip Hop.
