As an incredible singer and songwriter, Allison Friendly will not be an unknown name in the music industry for much longer. Just graduating from Tulane with a vocal jazz major, Allison has had a passion for singing ever since she was five, when she performed Madonna’s catchy hit “You’ll See” in her first grade talent show. Her music is very relatable for anyone who has ever had there heart broken, fallen in love, or has ever had that one great crush. From my own personal experience watching Allison write her music, it is almost shocking to see how easily the lines flow out of her mind and on to the sheet so easily. From her extremely messy first draft on paper, to her much neater third draft with her piano playing in accompaniment, the steps that Allison takes in her song writing and singing is top notch. With every song she writes, you can picture the story playing along with the words. Her inspiration for her songs comes from life. She says that “ Life inspires me-every song I write relates directly to something I have either experienced in the past or am currently experiencing.”
Confident with her vocal skills, Allison mustered up the courage to tryout for American Idol. “Trying out for idol was awful”, she exclaims. “So not what they show on TV. You’re literally treated like cattle, herded in and out of a packed stadium, singing at the same exact time as hundreds of other people right next to you”. Once she stepped away from her “Idol” tryout, Allison later decided to try out for a role on the new show “Platinum Hit”. According to Allison, “Platinum Hit auditions were sooo stressful”. She explained that “Although I totally blew it in my live audition, thankfully my video audition was strong enough to be noticed by casting producers.” She then had a video interview where they asked her a bunch of different questions, including if she would be mischievous for the show, where she would be manipulating cast members and creating drama. “I realized that wasn’t how I wanted to be portrayed, so I told them the truth, and they ended up going with someone else in my place(presumably Nick Nittoli, the most manipulative cast
member).
” Allison revealed. Allison hopes of accomplishing her two dreams in her future. One is to write timeless music that will reach and inspire millions of people, while her second dream is to make so much money through her writing and singing that she can literally donate ninety- nine percent of it to charity and change the world.
Keep your eyes pealed and your ears open for Allison’s amazing beauty whether it be from personal songs or from her sensational voice, you will be more than inspired by her talent and heart. I call Allison a best friend, while others may only call her an acquaintance, at that. Whether you have known her for ten years or just ten minutes, everyone who is lucky enough to meet her is stunned by her caring and funny personality.
